In early 2022 tribal governments, Indigenous peoples and citizens of the United States were advocating to defend the 2001 Alaska Roadless Rule, an administrative rule that protects almost 10 million acres of the world's largest intact old growth temperate rainforest from harmful natural resource extraction. The public comment period for the 2001 Alaska Roadless Rule was open from November 23, 2021 - January 24, 2022.

Always Indigenous Media with worked Marina Anderson, Sitka Conservation Society, and photographer Konrad Frank on the creation of these magazine covers to promote awareness of the Roadless Rule. Always Indigenous Media is housed under Native Movement and this project is supported by The Wilderness Society.
